The Best Hat Ever

I confess, I got suckered into buying cute trendy knit caps for my baby the second they started putting them on shelves this winter. The problem? They get lost pretty easily, they’re not always very functional (one barely covered Ollie’s ears) and, well, Ollie has a big head (50 cm! Off the charts!). So buying cute baby hats is pretty fruitless for us. One day when we were at Walmart buying a black sweats set for Ollie’s ninja b-day, we went looking for a black ski mask with the eyes cut out (ninja-style). We couldn’t find one, so we picked up a $1 black knit cap from the boys’ section and figured we could fashion a peep hole for his eyes. Well, we never got that far, but Ollie’s been using the cap ever since as a winter hat. It’s thick and knitted and is long enough to cover his ears and versatile enough to fit snugly and not look ridiculous. It’s perfect. The best part? Daddy wears them, too.
