Mommy’s Alright will dedicate the spot under our Twitter and Facebook links (right-hand margin) to a charity of the month starting today. The January charity (yes, we’re a little early – we’re excited!) is going to be one that’s near and dear to my heart – Rock For Kids.
Several years ago, my old zine Love, Chicago was invited to auction off a CD and original cover art at its annual Rock For Kids Rock & Roll Charity Auction at Chicago’s legendary music venue Metro. We were so honored and happy to help this great cause.
Rock For Kids brings free, quality music lessons into the schools and neighborhoods where kids need them most. This wonderful organization needs your help today to make a difference in these students’ lives tomorrow. (Donate here.)
What’s more, over the past year, Rock For Kids launched in-school classes for 3rd through 8th graders attending school in a poverty-stricken neighborhood on Chicago’s West Side. With your help, they can bring this opportunity to many more deserving students. Watch the video:
